I was in a purple mood so I reached for my favorite grape purple- Funky Dunkey. I then sponged over Grape, Set, Match over. The gradient is really subtle. My Funkey Dunkey has reached the halfway level in the bottle and I've only had it for less than two years. I didn't realize I wore it that much. I was going through my stamp plates and ended up choosing something I've done before using BM-323. Barbed wire (Celeb City) with fimo roses alternating with full roses (The Color of Minnie). I sealed everything using Out the Door. I like this version better than the black/white one I did. It's less "in you face".

A-England Merlin over Essie Gradient
Lately I've been addicted to gradient nails. It's simple, fast to do, and looks great. I needed something to to layer my new A-England Merlin over. I went with Essie Playdate and Bikini So Teeny. This pic is without a topcoat so it looks textured.
This is one thin coat of Merlin. It looked "incomplete" so I added gems for detail. Seche Vite for the top coat and that was it.

Blue Gradient
OPI Russian Navy, Swimsuit I Nailed It, and WNW Teal or No Teal have been sitting on my dressor waiting their turn to be used as a gradient. The result turned out fantastic! I've had Russian Navy for awhile but never got around to wearing it. It is a beautiful dark blue. Now I know why it's so popular. In the bottle, it's has red micro glitter that makes it look purple. On the nail it's a shimmery navy. Russian Navy was almost a one coater (it may be a good stamping polish). Teal or No Teal is a color I almost gave away since I never wanted it in the first place (it came in a makeup set). The irony is that I've been using Teal or No Teal way more than Teal of Fortune which settled my Catch Me in Your Net lemming.
Of course I'm not one to leave well enough alone. I added Kaleidoscope Eyes from the new Fergie line for WNW. It's a combo of gold, teal, blue, and green chunky glitter in a clear base. The glitter goes on sparse and was the perfect finishing touch for this manicure.
Please ignore the messy cleanup. Russian Navy ran into my cuticles during cleanup and made it look worse than if I had left it alone. |

This is one of those manicures that sparkle like crazy and catch everyones attention. |

Care to Danse? gradient
Good morning. It might be summer, but we are seriously lacking the sunshine. All of our summer fun activities are on hold because of the unpredictable weather. I took the girls swimming the other day and we had to cut it short when it started getting really windy and the rain started falling. I had bought a bunch of outdoor fun things for the girls for summer and we haven't really gotten to make use of them. It will probably be hot and sunny when school starts in a few weeks and everyone is busy. Ugh. Okay, there I vented. Now I feel better. On to todays manicure. Today I have a gradient using OPI Care to Danse? and SH Gem Crush Be-Jeweled. This combo has a light, airy feel to it. I started off with 2 coats of Care to Danse?.......
and then sponged on Be-Jeweled............ |
1 more coat of Care to Danse? to create a jelly sandwich..... |
and then brushed Be-Jeweled on my tips. |
Added some fimo. I overloaded the flowers on this hand and then went minimal on the other hand. |
It really sparkles under the kitchen light. |
